Sex Offender Investigations

Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team (DFAT) LogoThe USMS has three principal responsibilities under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act:

  • to assist state, local, tribal, and territorial authorities in the location and apprehension of non-compliant and fugitive sex offenders;
  • to investigate violations of the Act for federal prosecution; and
  • to assist in the identification and location of sex offenders relocated as a result of a major disaster.
KELLER, Keith Bernard (Apprehended) March 03, 2010 - Convicted sex offender Keith Keller was arrested today without incident at a family residence in Detroit, MI.  Keller was wanted by the US Marshals Service in the Eastern District of Michigan on an arrest warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  The arrest of Keller was a success because of the hard work and dedication put forth during the investigation by both agencies.  This could not have been accomplished without the working relationship between the US Marshals Service and the Michigan State Police.  The Michigan Department of Corrections also provided assistance during the arrest of Keller.
