1 (800) FED-INFO National Contact Center

The Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies’ Federal Citizen Information Center (FCIC) operates the National Contact Center (NCC), which answers questions from the public about federal agencies, programs, and services, in both English and Spanish. Callers can dial toll-free — 1 (800) FED INFO (800-333-4636) — for information. Agents are on duty to answer calls Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time. At all other times, a library of automated messages is available. As an alternative to calling, the public can email its questions through a handy web form found on USA.gov, or chat live online with a federal information specialist. The trained NCC staff answers questions about all aspects of the federal government, or provides the caller with the appropriate contact who can.

The Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies can also provide procurement assistance to agencies through USA Contact, a multiple award indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract that specializes in contact center services. Agencies save time and money purchasing a wide variety of contact center services through this streamlined approach, which promises high-quality performance from prescreened world-class providers. Drawing on its long-term experience managing the National Contact Center, the same agency that built and manages the NCC has created this IDIQ contract and made it available to other federal agencies.

Misdirects Program

The Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies encourages agencies to redirect phone and email inquiries to the NCC when those inquiries are not related to the agency’s mission. FAQ System

The shared FAQ system, located on the USA.gov website, allows the public to search multiple federal agencies' FAQs with a single search request. This shared system includes the NCC's own extensive knowledgebase, the same source of up-to-date information that NCC agents use to answer the public's questions.
