A Snapshot of Pacific Angel Nepal: Partnering for Health

NEPAL - Doctors from the Nepal Army, US Air Force (PACAF), Royal Australian Air Force, Mongolian Army, Project HOPE, Western Regional Hospital, Gandaki Medical College Teaching Hospital (Charak) and Himalaya Eye Hospital participated in U.S. Pacific Command's Operation Pacific Angel 12-4, Nepal on Sept. 10, 2012.

PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 13, 2012) - Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31ST MEU) load up in the back of a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter during flight operations aboard the only forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard. The Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), along with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU), is participating in a certification exercise. The evaluated event determines if the 31st MEU is capable of doing certain missions such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations or non-combatant evacuation operations with the ARG. PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 12, 2012) - The forward deployed Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens underway. Cowpens is part of the George Washington Carrier Strike Group, the US Navy's only continuously forward deployed carrier strike group based out of Yokosuka, Japan and is participating in Valiant Shield 2012. Valiant Shield is an integrated joint training exercise that offers the opportunity to integrate Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps assets in a blue-water environment. PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 13, 2012) - Sailors assigned to Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit 5, Platoon 503, repel from a SH-60F Seahawk Helicopter assigned to the 'Chargers' of helicopter anti-submarine squadron 14 onto the flight deck of guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin to conduct a helicopter, vessel, board, search and seizure drill in support of Valiant Shied 2012.
