The DoDEA Communications Office initiates and manages DoDEA's communications and outreach efforts worldwide. The office coordinates press relations, internal information programs and communication with students, parents, teachers, school administrators and the public.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — April 18, 2007 — Seven student teams from DoDEA schools around the globe have won recognition in the 2006-2007 eCYBERMISSION regional competition.
eCYBERMISSION is a U.S. Army-sponsored, web-based science, math and technology competition that allows students in grades six through nine to compete for regional and national awards while working to solve problems in their community.
Securing a first place award was a 6th Grade team from Heidelberg Middle School, Heidelberg, Germany for their project titled: Genius' for Money. With this award, each team member will receive a $3,000 U.S. EE savings bond and will be invited to Washington, D.C., in June to compete in this year's National Judging and Educational Event. The Team Advisor is Mr. Ricky Burcham and Team Members include: Jennifer Bumgardner, Jamie Douglas, Skyler Werner, Alexis Zeller-Meyer.
Other DoDEA students secured 2nd and 3rd place awards in the regional competitions. They include:

These students were selected from thousands of their peers and truly set an example for leadership in science, math and technology among our nation's youth. The U.S. Army hopes to continue to motivate and inspire students' interests in these areas.
DoDEA students were among 1,847 teams, comprised of 6,652 students, who submitted their research for judging. Army officials are encouraging students to apply for next years competition, which opens Sept. 1.
