ARLINGTON, VA — December 12, 2009 — When the University of North Carolina (Ashville) Chamber singers perform at both Walter Reed Hospital and the White House this week, one of the performers will be Jacqueline Lowe, a 2008 graduate of Kaiserslautern High School. Jacqueline, presently from Durham, NC attended DoDEA schools for her entire K-12 career.
From 1995 through 2008, she attended school in Baumholder, Neubrucke, and Kaiserslautern (Germany), where her grandmother, Kay Lowe was a DoDEA elementary teacher. Her mother Michele was also a DoDEA employee for part of that time. While at Kaiserslautern HS, Jacqueline was an honor student and graduated 8th in her class. She was an active participant in multiple fine arts activities including chorus, talent shows, and drama productions. Her talent and hard work were evidenced in her selection for both the DoDDS-Europe Jazz Festival and Honor Band and Chorus while she attended Kaiserslautern HS.

UNC Asheville Chamber Singers to Perform at White House December 17
While most college students are enjoying winter break and unwinding from final exams, some 25 UNC Asheville student singers are traveling to the performance of a lifetime. UNC Asheville’s Chamber Singers, the university’s premiere student voice ensemble, has been invited to perform at the White House on December 17. The group will sing for VIP tours at the Holiday Open House.
The choir will perform under the direction of Melodie Galloway, UNC Asheville assistant professor of music. It is the third consecutive year that the UNC Asheville group has been invited to perform.
In addition to the performance at the White House, the Chamber Singers will also sing for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Memorial Hospital on December 16.
