Team from Seoul American Middle School placed Second in MathCounts

TORII STATION, OKINAWA , JAPAN — March 28, 2006 — A team of four middle school Mathletes® from Seoul American Middle School, placed second in the 2006 DoDEA MATHCOUNTS State Competition.  The top team was from Landstuhl Elementary/Middle School in Europe.

Members of the second place team were: Angela Klingsleck, Michelle Roth, Lonsey Tyakeeyang  and Justin Zillmer. The team is coached by Kathee Lewis.  Fourteen teams and eight individuals competed in this year’s 2006 DoDEA state MATHCOUNTS competition.

The competition consists of three official rounds: Sprint with 30 problems, Target with 8 problems, and Team with 10 problems. Celebrating its 22nd Anniversary, MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide math coaching and competition program designed to improve math skills among U.S. students. Over six million students across the U.S. have participated in the MATHCOUNTS program.
