Lori Lundy

June 2, 2010 — Dr. Irby L. Miller, Superintendent of the Korea District, has announced the selection of Ms. Lori Lundy of Seoul American Elementary School as the Korea District’s Teacher of the Year for SY 2010-2011. Ms. Lundy is a veteran DoDDS teacher and is currently a second grade teacher at Seoul American Elementary School. She is an excellent representative of the quality of teaching found in Korea District’s schools. With her selection as the DoDDS-Korea Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011, Ms. Lundy is now eligible to compete for DODEA Teacher of the Year honors. Korea District Schools wish her well in her pursuit of this prestigious honor and recognition.

Ms Lundy joined the Department Of Defense Dependent’s Schools in 1990. Her first school was Atterberry Elementary School in Frankfurt, Germany where she taught a multiage class for emotionally impaired students. In 1993, she was accepted into a program to receive additional certification for working with Preschool Services for Children with Disabilities (PSCD). Ms. Lundy then transferred to Darmstadt Elementary School where she taught PSCD. Ms Lundy worked with many Darmstadt community agencies to conduct child find activities within the community. As the PSCD teacher she offered “Love and Logic” and other parenting skills in her classroom. She currently is involved in working with a parent involvement committee at Seoul Elementary. A statement made by the parent of one of her current second grade student’s states, “Ms Lundy took my son from a below grade level reader to an on grade level reader in just under one school year, She shaped him into one of the very best second graders I know.”

Ms. Lundy is constantly involved in her local community. She was a volunteer at the USO at Rhein Main Airbase, Germany and has worked with the Boy Scouts of America with Pack 65 and Troop 65 in Darmstadt and Troop 80 in Seoul.

Ms. Lundy grew up Bradenton, Florida and attended Manatee Community College and Florida State University. After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Special Education, she worked for eight years in Bainbridge, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida with emotionally impaired children in a self contained setting.
