Employment and unemployment of fathers without spouses
In 2009, there were 2,231,000 families maintained by men with children under age 18 and no spouse present.

The father was employed in 76.6 percent of these families, down from 82.8 percent in 2008. In 2009, the father was unemployed in the remaining 23.4 percent of these families, up from 17.2 percent in 2008.
