Brig. Gen. John D. Stauffer is Vice Director of Intelligence (J2), Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

General Stauffer entered the Air Force in 1984 as a distinguished graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Colorado. His career includes operational and staff tours, featuring joint and combined service in three theaters. He has served in or deployed to U.S. Air Forces Europe, Pacific Air Forces, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Headquarters U.S. European Command, Air Combat Command and Southwest Asia. General Stauffer has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels. Prior to his current assignment, he was Deputy DCOS Intelligence, Headquarters International Security Assistance force, U.S. Central Command, Kabul Afghanistan.
