Maj. Gen. Robert D. Rego is the mobilization assistant to the Commander, Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. The command organizes, trains, equips and maintains all U.S. intercontinental ballistic missile and nuclear-capable bomber forces. The command's mission is to develop and provide combat-ready forces for nuclear deterrence and global strike operations -- safe, secure and effective -- to support the President of the United States and combatant commanders. The command's six wings control the nation's entire inventory of Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles, B-2 and B-52 bomber aircraft.

General Rego entered the Air Force in 1985 as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of California, Los Angeles. His active-duty assignments include a tour as a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile crewmember and duty at Headquarters U.S. Space Command, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Colo. As a Reservist, he has served in special projects at U.S. Space Command, as the Air Force Research Laboratory liaison to the U.S. Army Big Crow Program Office, and as the Chief of the Space Control Mission Team at Headquarters Air Force Space Command.

General Rego has forward deployed as deputy commander for an Army Space Command unit during Operation Allied Force, and as a space and information operations planner for a joint special operations task force during operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
