Charlie Nye, a former director of strategic plans with Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, was inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame Aug. 28 in a ceremony at Fort Belvoir, Va. Nye was known for shaping the distribution network and said he is humbled by the honor.

Former personnel management chief inducted into DLA Hall of Fame

O. Clyde Panneton was inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame Aug. 28 for numerous improvements he made to the system through which DLA recruits, retains and rewards employees. For 27 years, he oversaw personnel support DLA Headquarters and DLA Energy.

DLA’s first audit-readiness hurdle cleared; three more to go

DLA has received confirmation that the first requirement of its audit-readiness package, submitted to DoD in June, has been approved. Appropriations Received ensures that when the agency receives funding from the Pentagon, it’s accounted for and distributed to DLA organizations accurately.

DLA Troop Support Subsistence saves $5 million on first-strike rations buy

Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Subsistence personnel used a reverse auction to save taxpayers $5.1 million on a first-strike rations contract Aug. 13, a contracting officer said. The first-strike ration is smaller and lighter than a meal, ready-to-eat.
