Alabama NRCS announces a partnership opportunity for landowners to voluntarily restore and protect habitat for the gopher tortoise. This program targets at-risk wildlife species across the country.

Jeffery W. Allred Receives Alabama NRCS Top Honor

NRCS State Conservationist Dr. William Puckett announced Jeffery (Jeff) W. Allred as the recipient of the 2012 Jerry L. Johnson Award. Allred was recognized during the Alabama Association of Conservation Districts’ Annual Meeting in Montgomery, Alabama.

A new national NRCS campaign educates customers and the public about the positive impact Soil Health Management Systems can have on both productivity and conservation. The resources about soil health are designed to help visitors understand the basics and benefits of soil health – and to learn about Soil Health Management Systems from farmers who are using those systems.
