Dr. Steven Choquette

Dr. Steven Choquette is the group leader of the Bioassay methods group within the biochemical science division in CSTL. In this position he oversees a diverse research portfolio that includes measurements and standards for biothreat assays and sampling methods, flow cytometry applications, enzyme thermodynamics related to Biofuel production, nanoparticle fabrication and characterization, biological assay/biomarker development and validation. In addition the group is responsible for a number of standard reference materials (SRM’s) and performance validation standards for UV-Visible, Near-infrared, Raman., and fluorescence spectroscopy applications.

He received his BS in Chemistry and Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University in 1980 and a Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has published more the 40 scientific papers, has 2 patents and is responsible for the development of 7 unique optical SRM’s in NIR and Raman spectroscopy. He currently serves on several ASTM committees for optical spectroscopy and homeland security applications and served for three years on the editorial advisory board for the Journal Analytical Chemistry.
