Each National Park conducts its Junior ranger program in different ways due to staff and other factors.

Junior Rangers at nearby Greenbelt Park participate in environmental education and became stewards of the National Park Service in two different sessions in the summer.
Ten children from ages 8 to 12 are selected for each session. There is an application process which includes a application and an essay on why you would want to become a Greenbelt Park Junior Ranger.
The 4 day program is open for 8 - 12 year olds. There is no cost for the Junior Ranger program.
