PEACHTREE CITY, GA — August 25, 2006 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Jacque Taton-Saunders has been named the new principal of Bolden Elementary School, Beaufort, South Carolina.

Taton-Saunders is currently Antilles Elementary School principal, at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, where she has been an administrator for six years. "We're very pleased that Jacque has accepted the position as principal at Bolden," said Dr. Joseph Guendon, South Carolina/Fort Stewart District superintendent. "She brings a wealth of experience as both a classroom teacher and an administrator. She has a special empathy for our military dependent children. I look for the school to flourish under her leadership."

A native of Colorado, Taton-Saunders earned her doctorate in education from the University of Northern Colorado. She has taught with DoDEA in Germany and Okinawa where her teaching experience has included elementary classroom, music, reading recovery, computers, and English as a Second Language. She's also been an administrator in Guam and Germany.

Taton-Saunders and her husband, Richard Saunders, who will retire Sept. 1 as an instructional systems specialist with DDESS, have four grown children who all graduated from DoDEA schools.
