PEACHTREE CITY, GA — October 24, 2007 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Mrs. Cassandra White has been named principal of Delalio Elementary School, on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Currently White is an assistant principal and testing coordinator at Terrell Lane Middle School in Louisburg, N.C. Prior to that, she was principal of the C.A. Dillon Youth Development Center School, part of the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

“We could not be more excited about bringing Mrs. White aboard,” said Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, assistant superintendent of the North Carolina District. “Having served in the Marine Corps, she brings with her a wealth of understanding about the military family. Her energy and strong commitment to students, teachers, and parents will serve Delalio well.”

Originally from Newark, N.J., White served over 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Four. She entered the education arena through the Troops to Teachers program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology from Park University and her master’s degree in School Administration from East Carolina University in 2005.

White and her husband, a retired sergeant major, have four daughters.
