PEACHTREE CITY, GA — August 1, 2007 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Dr. Renee’ Mallory has been named principal of Wilson Elementary School, at Fort Benning, GA.

Mallory was most recently Northside High School principal with the Muscogee County School District in Columbus, GA. She has extensive experience with school leadership teams, Partners in Education programs, strategic decisions impact teaching and learning, gifted education, and developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and transitional plans for special needs students. She spearheaded the Georgia School of Excellence committee for Hardaway High School in 1998-99, and this work resulted in Hardaway being named a Georgia School of Excellence. During that same year, Hardaway’s High Achiever Program was named as one of the best new educational programs in the state.

"Dr. Mallory comes to DDESS highly recommended for her work with students, teachers, and parents, and for her commitment to excellence in education,” said Dr. Dell McMullen, Georgia/Alabama District Superintendent.. “Her work with school improvement, curriculum and instruction, and partnerships will make her a valuable member of the Georgia/Alabama team.”

Mallory earned degrees from Auburn University, Troy State University and Columbus State University in the areas of leadership, curriculum and teaching, social science, French and learning disabilities. Prior to becoming Northside’s principal, she was assistant principal at Hardaway High School and a teacher at the Columbus Regional Youth Detention Center and Hardaway High School.
