The Service received Corea Heath, a coastal raised peat bog, when the Navy excessed it a few years ago. They removed their radar equipment prior to the transfer, but unfortunately did not remove the approximately 600 fourteen foot creosoted 4"x4" posts that were driven into the bog to support that equipment. For the past several winters, the staff have been pulling these posts out when the freeze conditions are just right - when the ice will support us and our equipment, but the sun has been strong enough to thaw the ice right around the dark posts. We have cleared about half the posts so far.
