A group of students involved in a three-week sea adventure with Hurricane Island Outward Bound volunteered their assistance for two days on Maine Coastal Islands NWR's Egg Rock near Bar Harbor as they were rowing by. They crew ate and slept on their boat, but during the day, they painted the generator building and the shutters on the lighthouse. This was valuable assistance for the refuge, which needs to maintain five lighthouses and associated buildings on offshore islands.
