Search Tips and Examples

The search is not case sensitive.

The wildcard used is % for 0 or more characters. Also available is the single character wildcard: "_" which matches one character.

There is an automatic wildcard at the end of your search.

A search for "cars" and "cars%" will yield the same results.

There is NOT an automatic wildcard at the front of your search. You may want to add one.

A manufacturer name search for "car" will yield: Car Imports, Car Manufacturing

A manufacturer name search for "%car" will yield: Fast Car Sales, Southwest Car Racing, Car Imports, Car Manufacturing

A manufacturer name search for "South__st" will yield: Southwest Car Racing or Southeast Car Imports

There may be typographical errors. Don't limit yourself by searching too specifically.

Search for "Sprin" instead of "Springfield" since an error could occur later in the word.

Also, "tra" instead of "trailer"

The format for WMI searching is the first three digits, and if there is an extension, use a forward slash ( / ) to separate.

To find 1A9 with an extension of 555, enter 1A9/555

The "Manufacturer name" field searches the "Plant name" field for the Retread database.

Some fields you may search are not available in all the databases. If databases are listed in parenthesis next to the field, then only those databases contain that field. This can also be noted on the search results. If the statement "No records found" is returned, then the database was searched and no records were found. However, if the statement "No applicable search terms entered" is returned, then the database does not contain the field you queried, thus was not searched
