NVO programs integrate youth and adult offenders back into the community, educating and communicating to the communities the causes, effects and resolutions to crime. The purpose is to inform prisoners and their families of the resources, such as housing, education, employment, legal, financial and health care services that are available to them, and ultimately to decrease recidivism rates. NVO networks with organizations across the country to help former prisoners in other states. NVO advocates for sentencing reform, prisoners' rights, and elimination of death and life sentences without the possibility of parole.
