Welcome

As you venture into the Springs Coast Watershed, you'll notice the crystal clear waters of the watershed's springs, the numerous plants and animals that have made this watershed their home, and the many parks and wildlife refuges that have been established to protect these unique areas. But something is missing! If you're looking for the typical sandy beaches that Florida is famous for, you'll have to travel a bit farther south. Unlike the coastal areas found near St. Petersburg and Sarasota, the Springs Coast Watershed features miles and miles of coastal salt marshes instead of barrier islands and beaches. But salt marshes aren't the only important parts of this watershed! To learn more about what makes this watershed special, pull on your waders and take the Springs Coast Watershed Virtual Excursion!
