4/17/2012 | Consumer Expenditures | Other publication | Focus on Prices and Spending: How do U.S. expenditures compare with those of other countries? | This report was reissued on Friday, April 13, 2012,to correct errors in the expenditure shares reported for the United States and Canada. Housing expenditures for the United Kingdom and Japan exclude property taxes. Property taxes were mistakenly included within housing expenditures for the United States and Canada, making the estimated expenditure shares for each country noncomparable. The correction required the exclusion of property taxes from housing expenditures for the United States and Canada, resulting in a decrease in the share of housing expenditures and an increase in expenditure shares for all other categories for those countries. |
