Learn how your company can tap into the Global Marketplace! As part of the National Export Initiative, the Commerce Department’s Trade Information Center is offering a series of one-hour webinars on the basics of exporting. These webinars have been specially designed to meet the needs of new exporters, or provide transaction specific guidance on more technical matters. Each webinar will begin at 2:00 pm Eastern and last one hour. To register, simply click the title of the webinar that you are interested in from the selection below. There is a nominal $15 registration fee which includes slides, live audio, and question-and-answer sessions. The webinars will be led by experts in their field and will address these topics:

2013 Program Titles ($15 registration fee):

  • New INCO Terms (Oct 3): Learn about the responsibilities of the buyer and the seller for delivery of goods under international sales contracts, the right business decisions in negotiating your sales contracts/transactions in 2013 and an overview of the purpose, use and application of the revised Incoterms.
  • Understanding Export Controls for Encryption Items (Nov 7): Understand export compliance obligations for commercial encryption technology items. Learn about your export activities and know the laws controlling what you can and cannot export and to whom.
  • How to Avoid Customs Penalties on Export Shipments (Dec 5): Learn about the current compliance and regulatory concerns, most common problem areas in customs clearance, and how to avoid penalties and delays in shipment.
  • Export Credit Insurance (Jan 9): Learn about the benefits of using export credit insurance.
  • Website Optimization for Attracting International Customers (Feb 6): Learn how to maximize international exposure for your products and services, using websites as an effective marketing channel; making your site “visible” to customers; search engine optimization; comparing Search Engine Optimization to Pay Per Clicks and attracting buyers from different countries to your site.
  • Understanding FTAs (Mar 6): Learn how to take advantage of the opportunities provided by Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) by reducing exporting costs, making your products more attractive to foreign buyers.
  • How to Create an Export Compliance Program (Apr 3): In this webinar, you will learn how to create an effective compliance program, the benefits of implementing a compliance program, core elements all effective compliance programs should include, and advice on how to develop and implement an effective compliance program.
  • How to Determine HS Codes, Calculate Duties and Taxes (May 1): Learn how to classify your products for customs and to calculate the full landed cost for your buyers.
  • Satisfying International Product Certification Requirements (Jun 5): Learn about the tools and resources to help your firm find, understand, and comply with international certification requirements.
  • Understanding Certificates of Free Sales & Export Health Certificates (Jul 3): Learn when these documents are required and how FDA, USDA or State Ag Offices will issue these certificates.
