10/22/2010 - KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. (AFNS) -- Officials at the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center held a change of command ceremony here Oct. 22 as Maj. Gen. David J. Eichhorn assumed command of the center from Maj. Gen. Stephen T. Sargeant.  Lt. Gen. William L. Shelton, the assistant vice chief of staff of the Air Force, presided over the ceremony.

General Eichhorn comes to AFOTEC from Edwards AFB, Calif., where he served as the commander of the Air Force Flight Test Center.  General Sargeant has been reassigned by the Air Force chief of staff to be the special assistant to the commander of Air Education and Training Command at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

AFOTEC is headquartered at Kirtland AFB, and the commander reports directly to the chief of staff of the Air Force. It is the Air Force's independent test agency responsible for testing, evaluating and reporting results on new systems being developed for Air Force and multi-service use.
