10/26/2011 - SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- The Sheppard Air Force Base Honor Guard presented the colors at game four of the World Series Oct. 23, at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, in front of a crowd of 50,000.

The team, managed by Tech. Sgt. Kevin Thornhill, presented the colors for the Texas Rangers at a home game earlier in the season. Reportedly, it was the largest colors team to date. Their performance left an impression, officials said, and they were invited back to present the colors at one game in each round of the playoffs.

When the Rangers advanced to the World Series, the Sheppard Honor Guard was asked to present the colors at game four.

"It was awesome; it was an experience," Thornhill said. "The team was spot on. It was the best we've done there yet."

The presentation of the colors at the World Series marks the last game for the honor guard with the Rangers this year, but there is already talk of including the Honor Guard in pre-game presentations next year, officials said.

"They really do deserve to come out here and showcase their skills and professionalism in front of such a large crowd," Thornhill told KFDX during a practice in preparation for the World Series game.
