Small Science Cluster Business Office

The Small Science Cluster Business Office provides administrative support to the Physical, Chemical, & Nano Sciences Center’s organizational operations; the Materials and Process Sciences Center’s organizational operations; the Biological & Energy Sciences Center’s New Mexico organizational operations; and Sandia's Laboratory Directed Research & Development (LDRD) organizational operations.

The department provides programmatic administrative support of the management of, and technical activities within, Sandia's Nanoscience Program, Basic Energy Science/Materials Science Program, Bioscience Program, and Materials Science & Technologies Program. The department also provides programmatic administrative support of the management of Sandia National Laboratories’ (SNL) Office of Science Program, and Sandia's Nanoscience to Microsystems Laboratory Directed Research and Development and New Directions (LDRD) Investment Areas.

The department provides support operations (e.g., machine shop, chemical stockroom, security plan) for the Integrated Materials Research Laboratory (IMRL) for the benefit of the Physical, Chemical, & Nano Sciences Center; the Microsystems Science, Technology & Components Center; the Biological & Energy Sciences Center’s New Mexico organizational operations; and the Materials and Process Sciences Center.

Our department provides both program and building support for the Center for Integrated Nanotechnology (CINT) Core Facility. CINT is a Department of Energy/Office of Science Nanoscale Science Research Center (NSRC) operating as a national user facility devoted to establishing the scientific principles that govern the design, performance, and integration of nanoscale materials. Through its Core Facility located at SNL and physical Gateways to both Los Alamos National Laboratories (LANL) and SNL (located in the IMRL), CINT provides open access to tools and expertise needed to explore the continuum for scientific discovery to the integration of nanostructures into the micro- and macro worlds.
