Rosemary Hines and her husband, Doran, purchased an old, rundown dry cleaners August 15, 1986. They had been working in the oil field when the bust came down.

The business was for sale, so the Hines decided to take the opportunity and bought the cleaners. The Hines received a Small Business Administration LowDoc loan with the help of Leonard Nack, President, First State Bank of Newcastle.

The establishment was old and needed repair. They rolled up their shirt sleeves and cleaned the place up, hauled junk out and painted. One of the large dry cleaning machines was faulty and they needed to get it out of the building. Friends helped move the large piece of equipment out of the building using an ATV to drag it out the back door. They also spent many nights working on broken down equipment.

Rosemary’s husband went back to work in the oil fields, so she and her daughter, Angie, run the dry cleaners. They purchased two embroidery machines for bowling and baseball shirts, ball caps, etc. and they purchased a third computerized machine. Rosemary received a grant from the Wyoming Workforce Services. The grant paid for an instructor to come up from Denver and spend two days with Rosemary and Angie. At the time they purchased the machine, they couldn’t be away from the business to take the training.

Rosemary and Doran are involved in the Chamber and provide gift certificates for fair week, baseball teams, and the Archery club; as well as after prom shirts with the prom theme on them.

Rosemary loves to visit with all of her customers and believes, in a small town, it is good to have a relationship with customers. She and her husband employ four part-time employees for a total of six employees. The part time employees love the work, as they can take their children to school, work at the cleaners and then be home when they get out of school. Rosemary maintains that all of her employees are hard workers.
