Markell, Congressman Carney, Senator Coons, DelDOT Sec. Bhatt, DNREC...Sec. O'Mara. While Delaware was fortunate that it did not receive more damage from the storm, there is still work to be done. - Congratulations to Sussex Tech's John Sell who was just named 2013 Delaware Teacher of the Year!
- In Ocean View today, we dedicated a project that created work for local companies, helped nurture the still-maturing solar industry, is removing 56 tons of carbon dioxide from the air we breathe, and will save the town $12,000 a year in operating costs! The town's new solar array is responsible for all of this and was created with ARRA dollars. That's what I call a win-win-win for Delaware.
- I met with students at Springer Middle to kick off the Real Men Read program, which emphasizes reading to boys in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
- Today I dropped by Sanford and met these 4th graders who were eager to ask questions. Our future is in bright hands.
- Today I joined Rep. John Carney at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center to announce $4.6 Million for cancer research for hospitals in the region. Federal funding has helped drive down Delaware's cancer mortality rate, but we still have more work to do.
