Education Secretary Duncan to Give Commencement Address at Fayetteville State University

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver remarks at the winter commencement of approximately 500 graduates at Fayetteville State University (FSU) at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. In his address, Duncan will applaud the contributions of HBCU graduates to America and encourage students to consider public service and teaching careers.

An HBCU (Historically Black College and University) and the second-oldest public institution in North Carolina, FSU has nearly 6,000 students and offers degrees in more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. It serves the largest number of veteran and military-affiliated students in the state, and is home to an Early Childhood Education Center and an Early College High School, as well as an innovative program to train STEM educators.
