Visits to the USGS Visitors Center are in three parts:
Introduction
A visit begins with a general introduction to the U.S. Geological Survey and
a video on a selected topic (preferably what the class is actually studying
at the time of the tour) such as earthquakes, volcanoes, invasive species,
rocks and minerals, and water issues.
Hands-On Room
Guided Tours Only. This room contains, microscopes, a water flume, fish, amphibians,
and other materials for hands-on activities. Note: groups should be prepared
to break up into smaller groups of three and five for activities in the Hands-On
Room. Many of the hallway displays and exhibits that can be seen on self-guided
tours are also explained during the guided tours. During fair weather months,
visitors can tour our grounds on the Woodland
Walk and the Rock Garden Walk. |
