Langston Hughes Middle School Beaver Pond Field Trip

USGS employees and scientists participated in the Langston Hughes Middle School’s Beaver Pond Field Trip. This outdoor activity consists of a walking field trip with five science stations set up in and around Lake Audubon in Reston, Virginia. Through presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on-activities, USGS volunteers helped the children understand and learn about stream flow measurement and factors affecting aquatic organisms of a depositional stream environment. In addition, the children also learned about stream chemistry and how to construct a map.
