At this week's "Farm Bill Now!" rally, Democrats and Republicans came together to urge the House of Representatives to take up the Farm Bill. In June, the Senate achieved rare bipartisan agreement when it passed Senator Debbie Stabenow's 2012 Farm Bill, the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act. Her bill has been widely praised from both sides of the aisle for its significant reforms that cut spending by $23 billion, disaster assistance for farmers, and support for job creation in one of the country's largest economic sectors. -
Senator Stabenow Continues Her Support of Delphi Salaried Retirees
U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow continued her strong support of Delphi salaried retirees who lost pension benefits as a result of the bankruptcies of General Motors and the Delphi Corporation. Stabenow co-sponsored legislation today requiring that these pensions be fully restored using funds from the U.S. Treasury's eventual sale of remaining General Motors stock. Stabenow has also urged the Obama Administration to fully consider the Delphi Salaried Retirees Association's proposal for restoring pension benefits. -
Chairwoman Stabenow, Michigan Agriculture Leaders Urge House to Pass a Farm Bill Now!
U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of the Agriculture, Forestry and Nutrition Committee, today joined with farmers, business owners and agriculture groups from Michigan and around the country to urge the House of Representatives to pass a Farm Bill. Participants in the "Farm Bill Now!" rally in front of the U.S. Capitol called on the House to pass a full five-year Farm Bill before the current bill expires on September 30. -
Senator Stabenow Statement Following Attacks on U.S. Consulate in Libya and U.S. Embassy in Egypt
U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow made the following statement following the attacks on Americans in Libya and Egypt: "The violence against Americans in Libya and Egypt is outrageous. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the diplomats who died serving our country. America must come together and be united in condemning these cowardly attacks."
