ED & SBA Host Twitter Chat: Connecting Grads to Resources to Help Them Startup

Cross-posted from SBA.gov

Graduation season is right around the corner and to help grads that are looking to start a small business, SBA and the U.S. Department of Education will host a Twitter Q & A Session on April 25 at 2pm EDT connecting soon-to-be grads or recent grads to resources to help them startup, succeed and create an economy built to last.

Startup logoI, along with U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan, will answer your questions about starting a business and  highlight the Income-Based Repayment (IBR) Plan, which supports young college grads that are looking to start a business, join a startup, or work in a public service job by making Federal student loan repayment manageable.  IBR helps to keep loan payments affordable by using a sliding scale to determine how much you can afford to pay on your Federal loans—empowering you to take risks with new opportunities like starting a small business.

Submit your questions now and follow the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #GradStartup.

Colleges and universities spout esoterics. If nobody gets it, they don’t care.

After students get out, they have to think but lack the tools to do so. Those who are 99% on track to teach the right material in schools are screened out by perfection committees.

They are left by the side of the road to sit and be frustrated with those who graduated and could not find work.

The academic institutions take their version of the best and leave everyone else behind.

  2. Laraine says:

I would love to start my own business. However, the default in student loans is so much I will be paying after I am deceased.

I am unemployed. When I was working my paychecks were garnished. Now that I am on a strict income their is no money for loan payments.

So, if their is hope for a new chance in restoration in my loan debt and financial security through self employment; I am truly ready. Thank you.

I’m a Buisness Major student and I want to be very successful in whatever I do buisness in. I’m a high energy person with a strong drive and determination, I don’t want to work for anyone but myself, I’m going to be my own boss. Do you have any advice for me?

  4. Maggie says:

I have student loan debt. Every year my tax refund is taken to pay on my debt, It’s only paying on the intrest and penalties. I so want to get this paid off. I don’t have any money to pay it in one lump some. If I pay 50.00 monthly how can I stop further penelties and interest?
