Brief Summary

NEH Humanities Initiatives are intended to strengthen and enrich humanities education and scholarship at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These grants may be used to enhance the humanities content of existing programs, develop new programs, or lay the foundation for more extensive endeavors in the future.

Each project must be organized around a core topic or set of themes.

Program Statistics

In the last five competitions the Humanities Initiatives at Historically Black Colleges and Universities program received an average of 22 applications per year. The program made an average of 3 awards per year, for a funding ratio of 14 percent.
