180A - Special Forces Warrant Officer

Duties:

Special Forces (SF) Warrant Officers are Combat Leaders and Staff Officers who manage all aspects of Special Forces Operations in all operational environments.

Specialized Officers participate in joint, strategic, operational and tactical requirements at all levels of planning and execution of special operations worldwide.

They are responsible for conducting unconventional warfare and joint integration of Special Forces tactics and techniques.

They advise commanders on strategic reconnaissance, intelligence collection, strike and security operations.

They lead specialized teams in Advanced Special Operations, counterterrorism, psychological, civil affairs and other missions, relative to special operations capabilities, as directed.

Minimum Prerequisites:

  • Must hold a CMF18 Military Occupational Specialty (MOS)
  • Must be a Staff Sergeant (E-6) or above
  • Minimum of three years' experience at the SF Operational Detachment Alpha (SF-ODA) level
  • A minimum Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) score of 85 or a current DA Form 330 (within one year) with at least a 1/1 language proficiency (in accordance with USASFC[A] 350-1 dtd 2004)
  • Meet the medical fitness standards for SF duty and commissioning within 24 months of application submission. Completed U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) form 1932 (Physical Cover).
  • Letters of recommendation are required from the company, battalion and group commanders and a senior warrant officer from within the applicant's unit. Individuals applying from units other than an SF group must receive letters of recommendation from their current chain of command and at least two letters from their previous group chain of command to include a senior warrant officer.
