On order, EODMU FIVE
deploys and employs tailored EOD units to locate, identify, render safe and
remove conventional, chemical, biological, nuclear, radiological, and
improvised explosive hazards in order to enable access for joint, naval, and
special operations forces within the Western Pacific Theater of Operations
and elsewhere, when directed. Vision EODMU FIVE is the
premier EOD Mobile Unit, integral to the Joint Force Commander and renowned
for bar none EOD expertise and professionalism. We are tactically proficient,
and strategically minded; we think inclusively and act deliberately. Command Philosophy We exist to prevent and when necessary, fight and win our Nation's wars. Never forget this. We must be combat ready so that we may be combat proven. As "iron sharpens
iron", we ready each other. Amidst uncertainty and risk, we will be
known for our certitude and readiness. It is all about credibility. Our credibility is our
lifeblood: we either have it or not. My credibility is in your hands as much
as your credibility is in my hands. Credibility comes only from trust; trust comes only from relationships. Credibility assures
our freedom of maneuver. There is nothing more precious than our credibility. Strive always to see and understand the bigger picture. Leadership is a
function of one's willingness and
ability to learn. Know yourself, understand your biases. Attitude is everything; attitude
is a choice. Our attitude dictates our thoughts, from our thoughts come our
words and actions. Priority #1 is keeping our priorities
straight. I will always emphasize process
over product so that we think and act deliberately and systematically.
That which is routine must remain routine so that we can be ready for that
which is emergent. We say what we do and do what we say. Team -- It is more a verb than it is a
noun. It is about doing, not about being. The fastest way to be successful is
to help others succeed. Both as individuals and as a command, we enable and
we support others' success. We communicate and collaborate continuously and
effectively. We will, in all things, be characterized by our tenacity,
perseverance and resolve. We loathe complacency. We challenge each other's
presumption of success in order to hone our edge. Our competitive advantage
is our unity of effort, our unity of focus and our unity of purpose. We
