Hensarling Statement on House-Passed Regulatory Reform Bills to Support Job Creation

December 2, 2011

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) issued the following statement today regarding this week’s passage of H.R. 527, the Regulatory Flexibility Improvement Act, and H.R. 3010, the Regulatory Accountability Act, to rein in job-killing federal regulations and enhance the nation’s job growth.

“This week House Republicans took further steps to reduce the overload of job-killing regulations on American businesses and employers by passing two new reform bills as part of the House Republican Plan for America’s Job Creators

“The American people need jobs and job creators need to be freed from the onerous costs and restraints imposed by distant bureaucrats in Washington. It is downright alarming and unacceptable that so many of the Obama administration’s policies are instead regulating small businesses out of business and killing jobs and opportunities for Americans.

“While House Republicans work to preserve the protections that keep our economy free and fair, we are equally committed to cutting the excessive red tape that keeps our job creators tied and timid. More than ever, Americans are depending on a robust private sector that can confidently build, expand, and create jobs for the millions of our citizens currently out of work. These two bills will help ensure that such an environment is possible.

“With the passage of these bills, there are now 25 House-passed jobs bills awaiting the Democrat-run Senate’s approval and the president’s signature. As America weathers through the Obama economy and the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression, the best Christmas gift Senator Reid and President Obama can give the American people is the support these crucial jobs bills deserve.”
