About Hero On Call
Welcome to Hero On Call. We’re here to answer your questions about the National Guard, every day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and midnight (Eastern).
All of our operators are real Soldiers, currently serving in the Army National Guard. We work with Hero On Call part time and serve part time in military careers ranging from combat specialties like Infantry, Cavalry scouts and helicopter pilots to Military Police, medical specialists, truck drivers and mechanics.
We work or go to school part time while serving in the National Guard one weekend a month.
Many of us have deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, or served on humanitarian missions to foreign countries. And several have been mobilized to assist during emergencies—like tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and forest fires—here in the U.S.
One thing we all have in common is a strong working knowledge of what it takes to become a Soldier in the National Guard. We look forward to your questions, and helping you learn more about Guard service.

Your total enlistment period will be eight years, but you can serve as little as three or six years, and spend the remainder in IRR (Individual Ready Reserve).

Learn more from a Guard representative.If you've completed Army or Marine Corps Basic Training, you won't need to repeat BCT. Most other prior service personnel will need to attend BCT (except USAF and USN Special Operations personnel). Your recruiter has details.
