SD National Guard conducts instructor training in Suriname
The South Dakota National Guard continues to support National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program by conducting military exchanges with their South American partner nation, Suriname. The most recent exchange sent two South Dakota Army National Guard instructors to Suriname to spend two days discussing training techniques both in and out of the classroom.

New Guard chief says people top priority
Gen. Frank Grass, the incoming chief of the National Guard Bureau, stated people are his top priority as he addressed the 134th National Guard Association of the United States conference that concluded on Wednesday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Florida National Guard celebrates 447 years of history
The Florida National Guard opened up its headquarters in St. Augustine to the local community, Sept. 14, 2012, to celebrate 447 years of the militia tradition in Florida. The St. Francis Barracks, headquarters for the Florida Army and Air National Guard, was open to the public for tours of the historic facility and military museum.

New York National Guard Cavalry Squadron changes commanders on Saturday
New York Army National Guard Lt. Col. Benjamin Richardson, an Oswego resident and Afghan War veteran, will take command of the 2nd Squadron, 101st Cavalry Regiment here on Saturday, Oct. 15. Richardson will take over from Lt. Col. Robert Williams, an Amherst resident and Afghan veteran, who has commanded the squadron since last year.
