National Guard Engineering Education
The National Guard Engineering Education program is partnering with vocational-technical schools across the country to help educate students about engineering design.
Engineers play an important role in the National Guard. As an engineer you'll train part time in your own community, ready to serve during emergencies and natural disasters.
You can also be a big part in the success of the Guard’s mission overseas, defending freedom and protecting America's interests. This dual mission—serving community and country—makes being an engineer in the National Guard unique.
Training
Every engineer in the National Guard goes through Advanced Individual Training, where you’ll learn basic construction, engineering and electrical principles. From there, you can develop specialized skills, such as:
- Masonry
- Surveying
- Plumbing
- Firefighting
- Underwater welding
National Guard training is ideal preparation for an engineering career in the civilian world. It applies to the fields of:
- Commercial and residential construction
- Building inspection
- Electrical engineering
- Architecture
- Highway engineering
