Thread: Question about being deployed

    Default Question about being deployed

My son has just recently finished his basic training at Fort Jackson. He will not complete his AIT until next summer because he is a split option, as he has returned to finish college. My question is this: Can he be deployed before he finishes his advanced training or can they deploy him at anytime because he has completed basic training?

No because he is not MOS qualified (you get this after you complete AIT) and therefore has not been released to his unit. His unit can be activated for natural disasters to help put up sandbags etc. but that is very rare.

New soldiers have to be formally trained in the job first before anything else. +1
