What is the Congressional Goods Movement Caucus?
The Goods Movement Caucus was created to recognize the difficulties that our transportation industry face while transporting goods across America. How goods are transported across the country has a significant impact on the local, regional, and national economies. As the transportation of goods across the country has grown in importance, it is critical that we maintain a focus on these issues.
Why is the Goods Movement Caucus Important to the 8th District?
The Port of Seattle and Tacoma combine to be the third-largest port in the nation. When goods come into these ports, 70 percent of those goods get moved east. This causes heavy congestion and delays on our interstate system. Finding an economical way to move goods across our country in a safe, easy and fast way is important in the 21st century.
