On September 11, 2001, 40 passengers and crew aboard United Airlines Flight 93 became unexpected heroes as they chose to fight back against their hijackers, ultimately causing their plane to crash in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, before reaching its target of Washington, D.C. The Flight 93 Memorial is a tribute to the passengers and crew and a place to explore and discover their inspiring story of courage and hope.Photo: National Park Service
