US EXPORTS TO IRAQ UP 48% IN 2011 VS. 2010

According to the latest Department of Commerce statistics for 2010 and 2011, US exports to Iraq have increased by 48 percent, from $1.64 billion in 2010 to $2.43 billion in 2011. Sectors that have shown the greatest increase are in oil and gas infrastructure and equipment, automobiles, telecom equipment, construction machinery, and food. 2011 US export numbers in medical equipment increased significantly over the same time period.

Over the same period, US exports of merchandise goods to the 22 nations of the Arab world increased from $48.77 billion in 2010 to $56.18 billion in 2011, an increase of 15% and the highest single-year sales volume ever.
