Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project Credits and Grants

The IRS, in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Services, approved applications for projects that showed significant potential to produce new and cost-saving therapies, support jobs and increase U.S. competitiveness under the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project program. The IRS determined the credit or grant amount for each approved project.

Under the program, a total amount of $1 billion was initially allocated for credits and grants with a $5 million limit per each eligible applicant. After the initial allocation was made, certain approved applicants requested certification of an amount less than what was initially allocated or requested a grant in lieu of a credit consistent with IRS guidance. These changes are reflected in the projects shown, updated as of July 20, 2012. Since awards were made by project, applicants who submitted more than one project that received a grant or credit may be listed more than once.

The applicants and the amounts allocated are listed on the following pages by state. States that did not have any grant or credit recipients are not shown in the following lists.

This information is being provided to the public consistent with the requirements in the statute and Notice 2010-45.
