Royce Statement on 11th Anniversary of 9/11 Terror Attacks

Washington, Sep 11 - Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade, issued the following statement on the eleven-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks launched by al-Qaeda, which killed over 3,000 innocent citizens:

"Today, we remember thousands of fallen Americans, many who were brave heroes who selflessly gave their own lives to save others. On the eleven-year anniversary, we come together as a nation to say they will never be forgotten. This was a modern day Pearl Harbor.

"The individuals that have worked tirelessly to protect our nation since that horrific day deserve great credit. We haven’t had a large scale attack on our homeland, but that’s not for a lack of trying. Plots have been foiled and Osama bin Laden and other senior leaders have been killed.

"However, as my Subcommittee has heard, terrorism continues to present a grave threat to the United States. A growing number of al-Qaeda affiliates and individuals are looking to fulfill bin Laden’s vision. We must continue our efforts to combat al-Qaeda’s ideological appeal."
