U.S. Representative Ed Royce

Dear Friends,

This Saturday, I will host my 4th Annual Women's Conference.  Unfortunately, Nancy Pfotenhauer, our scheduled keynote speaker fell ill this week and will no longer be able to attend.  Emmy nominated Mindy Burbano-Stearns will provide this year's keynote address.

Discovered by Oprah Winfrey, Burbano has made a successful career covering the world of entertainment. Mindy’s earned the prestigious Golden Mike Award, two Emmy nominations and a nomination for "Entertainment Reporter of the Year" by the Publicists Guild.

Attendance at my annual Women’s Conference is free and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the lobby of Cal State Fullerton's Titan Student Union.  Parking for the women's conference is free and located in the N. State College Parking Structure.  Additional directions and maps can be found here.

Additional details about my 4th Annual Women's Conference can be found here.

I look forward to seeing you this Saturday.

Sincerely,

Representative Ed Royce

House Republicans Pass Budget, Offers Real Solutions

Yesterday, House Republicans passed a serious budget, one that offers real solutions for our nation’s long-term economic growth. The President’s budget, in stark contrast, failed to win a single vote this week.  Recycling failed policies, the President's budget adds nearly $6 trillion to our nation’s already bloated debt and never balances.  We are drowning in red-ink and our debt now exceeds the size of our economy. The solution isn’t more spending and more borrowing.  My colleagues and I are committed to putting Americans back to work and providing our nation’s job creators with the opportunity to grow and succeed.

Royce Launches High School Art Competition

This week, Rep. Ed Royce announced his 2012 Congressional High School Art Competition. This year’s competition will include a "Fan Favorite" Award, which artists, families and friends can vote for through Facebook.  Royce's eighth annual Congressional High School Art Competition winner was Heather Choi from Placentia. Choi demonstrated her artistic talents with an acrylic painting titled "Bright America" (both Choi and her painting are pictured left.)  For more information about the 2012 Congressional High School Art Competition, please click here.  For rules, guidelines and student release forms, please click here.

The Supreme Court is in the process of deciding whether or not, under the Constitution, the federal government can require all Americans to purchase health insurance. This mandate, included in Obamacare, is an unprecedented form of federal action and government overreach. Do you think that the individual mandate included in Obamacare is constitutional?
