    Dr. Mari Maeda is the Deputy Director of the Defense Sciences Office (DSO).

    She has interests in a wide range of technologies including quantum communications, tactical applications and biomedical research.

    In her prior role as a program manager in the Information Innovation Office, she led development of the TIGR (Tactical Ground Reporting) System, which became one of the most widely used tools in Iraq and Afghanistan.  TIGR enhances battlefield awareness by allowing soldiers to quickly share and review all available intelligence on people and events in a given area.  Dr. Maeda was also responsible for the Transformative Apps (TransApps) program which seeks to demonstrate an innovative military apps development process.  

    Dr. Maeda holds a PhD in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
