Joanne Buenzli Crane, Chief Financial Officer, has operational responsibility for all financial, budgetary, and audit activities of ESA and BEA and has oversight of Census Bureau CFO activities. She is the primary liaison to the Office of Management and Budget and handles inquiries and responses to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees. Her oversight duties for the Census Bureau require her to work closely with the Census Budget Division and often the managers of the Census programs. Prior to ESA, she worked for BEA first as an economist in the Government Division and as the assistant to BEA’s Deputy Director and then for Director and Associate Director for Management as a program analyst focused primarily on budget and financial management. Ms. Crane graduated with a B.A. in International Economics from the George Washington University. She has completed graduate work also at the George Washington University’s School of Public Policy and currently attends the National Defense University (the CFO Academy).
